Green light for green careers directory

With the rapid growth of the green economy, new careers opportunities are opening up. But what does it mean to ‘work green’ and how do you get there?

To help you navigate the career paths towards a green career, there’s a new online directory. The Greener Careers Sussex Directory is organised by qualification level and can be filtered by sectors set out by the Green Jobs Taskforce – Power, Business & Industry, Homes & Buildings, Transport, Natural Resources, Enabling Decarbonisation and Climate Adaptation – and provides details of all the courses in Sussex that link to green jobs or those that support the UK’s net-zero emissions target and other environmental goals.

‘This directory is a welcome addition to our existing careers resources,’ says Charlie Field, Get Career Confident’s Project Manager. ‘With the government’s aim to support two million green jobs in the UK by 2030, it will be a useful resource for careers advisors and for those students who are looking to work within the ever-growing green economy in Sussex and beyond.’

The SLN has collaborated with East Sussex College Group to create the tool along with additional resources including sector specific labour market information.
